TARLAC  High School Batch 1980
SUMMER REUNION in Vancouver, BC, Canada

This is a SPECIAL BLOG on the Proposed Summer Reunion of Tarlac High School Batch 1980 in Vancouver, BC, Canada. On March 23, 2013, batchmates Olivetti Arcansalin and Grace Niegos met and together with their families went  "SITE HUNTING" for possible venues. The proposed date of reunion is from August 3-5, 2013, the last month of summer vacation in the US and Canada. So join us as we tour Vancouver for possible venues.

Panorama Deep Cove in North Vancouver, BC

At the wharf, boats can be rented to explore the beauty of the cove's surroundings.

Boats docked at the Deep Cove Yatch Club are exclusive for its members.

Now, these boats and canoes are for rent to the public. We'll try this when we come back in summer.

From the parking lot, this is the view that will greet you.

Wow! Look at that vista. Entrance is free anytime. You can just sit on that bench with your spouse, reminisce your high school days with the dabarkads, when hot pandesal and banana cue were enough to fill everyone up.

You can go swimming or boating in this blue lagoon. What a refreshing sight!
The group was discussing here the possible activities for the reunion. On the extreme right is Chiboy Arcansalin Carullo, Olivetti's son.
Let's go down and explore the cove.

It looks like an endless forest of evergreens behind them.

Ang sarap magpagulung-gulong dito. Well manicured green green grass of home. Go walking up and down the slopes for that dose of fresh air to invigorate your lungs.

The blue lagoon does not get polluted even with the presence of residential houses nearby. Ang sarap magkabahay dito, para kang laging nagbabakasyon.

This shaded dining hall is where Batch 1980 can have a lunch salu-salo of adobo, kaldereta, crispy pata, pansit, pinakbet, pork barbecue, lumpiang Shanghai, sago't gulaman, leche flan, buko salad, and more.

An extra dining table outdoors.
Wild ducks abound in the cove.

Wow! What a refreshing sight. It's Springtime in BC.  Boating, anyone?
Picture perfect. While the rest of Canada is still freezing, Vancouver is now enjoying a not so cold temperature.
Tourists are now beginning to flock sights like this.
Look at those thick evergreen forests. Seems like endless. Canada is a country that takes care of its ecology and environment. Olivetti and family live about 45 minutes from this cove while Grace and family live just 5 minutes away! Wow!
The Canadian maple leaf flag waves to everyone who sees it. Look at the forest dominated by pine trees. No wonder that the water at the blue lagoon remains cool and fresh.

That green roofed structure houses the washrooms for the public. It's clean. Bathers can change and shower in it.

The seagulls are all over the cove, flying and hovering low, and frolicking in the water as if welcoming swimmers and bathers to join him.

CAPILANO RIVER RESERVOIR at Capilano, North Vancouver

Olivetti waves as if saying, "Batchmates, mekeni tana, intayon ditoy Beautiful British Columbia!"

What a view!

Grace's daughters smile at the camera.

Wow, fantastic view of the Capilano Reservoir. Nature at its best. From Panorama Deep Cove Park, this is just a 15 - 20 minute drive. The evergreen pine trees are not affected by the changing of seasons. They remain forever green. Ang sarap lumanghap ng sariwang hangin. This is life in Canada, you work hard 5 days a week and you treat yourself and your family to a weekend of nature trips, for free.

I don't know what trees these are but I like their color blending so well with the dark evergreen forest.

Snow is still present on mountain tops. The blending of rustic brown and dark green is just harmonious.
What are they looking for?

Chiboy is pointing to the dam beside him. It was named after Ernest Albert Cleveland in 1954, the first commissioner of Greater Vancouver Water District.

That's Grace's Honda CRV. We're now proceeding to Amble Side Park in West Vancouver. Ang sarap magdrive sa mga kalsada dito, well-paved and safe as Canadian drivers observe road courtesy. But before we go there, we'll sidetrack a little bit and pass by Grouse Mountain Resort, and then Capilano Suspension Bridge. Magkakatabi lang ang mga tourist spots na yan dito sa North Vancouver.

GROUSE MOUNTAIN RESORT at North Vancouver

We just passed by this mountain resort and did not explore it. Even parking was a problem as the parking area was full that day.

CAPILANO SUSPENSION BRIDGE at Capilano, North Vancouver

I'll just show everyone this famous nature park beside the Capilano Reservoir. Now, entrance to this park is not free, it being a private entity. We went here in July 2012. Entrance fee for adults is around $30 while it's cheaper for kids.

AMBLE SIDE PARK in West Vancouver, BC

From Capilano, we proceeded to West Vancouver, about a 15 minute drive. People are beginning to flock to seaside parks, eagerly awaiting for summer which comes in 2 months time. At Springtime, it is still cold at the seaside with temperature ranges of 5 to 12 degrees Celsius.
